One of worst parts of going to the dentist is thinking about getting an injection. Many people have terrible memories of dentists and injections, usually from childhood, and fear having the same experience again. But dental technologies and procedures have changed a lot over the last few years. At Paramount Dental in Sydney, they use the latest technologies and offer a fear-free and pain-free experience, even when you have to get an injection.

The Latest Dental Technology

It’s absolutely necessary for the mouth to be numbed for certain dental procedures. The mouth is a sensitive area containing a lot of nerves and blood vessels. Some procedures that are necessary for your oral health could be very painful, and potentially traumatic if you weren’t numbed first. But for some people, the idea of having a needle is just as terrifying. As Dr. Amrinder from Paramount Dental states “Getting an injection in the mouth is a lot more scary than anywhere else on the body. It’s much more personal.” And it doesn’t help that many patients remember older procedures, which took a long time and caused a lot of pain.

But modern dental procedures are much quicker, and use the latest technology to ensure a pain-free experience. One very important innovation is the Wand. This computer controlled device is a replacement for old syringes. The stinging pain that patients often feel when getting a dental injection is usually because of the speed of the fluid going into the tissue. Because the Wand injects slowly, it’s a much more comfortable way to get anaesthetic.

Anaesthetics in the Dentist’s Office

Dentists use different anaesthetics today as well. Older procedures used slow acting anaesthetics, and the dentists were usually rushed and started their work before the patient was completely numb. These days, anaesthetics work as soon as they enter the tissue. According to Dr. Amrinder, this means that “90% of my patients don’t feel the injection at all. We do use the topical cream, but most of the time we don’t need it.” These fast acting anaesthetics ensure that patients are comfortable throughout their procedures, and make dental work much easier for everyone.

At Paramount Dental in Sydney’s CBD, we offer a lot more than use the latest technology. Our staff are experts at what they do, and this makes procedures and injections far easier. Because they understand the mouth completely, and know where the nerves and sensitive areas are, our staff can better plan out procedures to ensure they’re quick and painless. In fact, Dr. Amrinder states that most of his patients are so busy watching their favourite show on the ceiling television that they can’t believe he’s already finished the injection.

As well as the television, Paramount Dental Sydney offers a calming, relaxed environment with a view of Hyde Park. You can watch your favourite shows on Netflix, or listen to music while you recline in our surprisingly comfortable chairs. Our dentists and other staff do everything they can to make each patient feel safe and comfortable in every way.
