Announcement - Exciting New Technology - Paramount Dental Sydney

We have 3 exciting new technologies to share with you

At Paramount Dental Sydney, we’ve always stood by our motto: “Patient care first”. This is why we invest in the latest technology for our patient's care.

We believe it is important to treat your oral care holistically, and part of that is being able to investigate all of your dental concerns under one roof. This is why we are delighted to announce the introduction of three new technologies to our dental clinic:

  • Sonic Airflow®

  • iTero 3D Scanner

  • CBCT/OPG Machine

Find out all about these new technologies and how they work below.

Sonic Airflow®

Sonic Airflow is a state-of-the-art technology that cleans with air and water. Unlike a traditional scaler, with Sonic Airflow, you won’t feel pain or cold sensitivity, nor will you hear any scraping noises because the instrument doesn’t even touch the teeth.

Sonic Airflow brings an all-round improvement to traditional professional cleaning methods, with the following benefits:

  • Greater effectiveness

  • Faster cleaning time

  • More comfortable

  • Warm water can be used

  • Better ‘clean feeling’ afterwards

 iTero 3D Scanner

This dental imaging device creates highly detailed 3D realistic digital impressions of teeth and oral structures. It offers a more comfortable and efficient alternative to traditional dental moulds when shaping braces and aligners to your unique mouth. Along with many other benefits, the iTero 3D scanner is more accurate than a traditional mould, so you can feel increasingly confident when receiving orthodontic treatment with Paramount Dental Sydney.

The iTero 3D Scanner resembles a small handheld wand or camera, to scan the inside of your mouth. Using advanced optical technology, thousands of images are captured per second to create a real-time, 3D digital model of your mouth on a computer screen.

This has a number of benefits over traditional moulds, including:

  • Comfort: Patients typically find digital scanning more comfortable and less invasive than traditional impressions.

  • Accuracy: The digital impressions are highly precise, reducing the need for retakes and ensuring the accuracy of dental treatments.

  • Efficiency: Scanning is faster than traditional impressions, saving both patient and provider time.

  • Greater transparency: Our dentists can show you live results on the computer screen, giving you greater confidence in the results.

  • Digital records: The digital impressions obtained from the iTero 3D Scanner can be used for a variety of dental purposes, including orthodontic treatment planning, the creation of crowns, bridges, and other dental restorations, and monitoring changes in your oral health over time.

  • Reduced Waste: The digital process eliminates the need for physical moulds and impression materials, reducing environmental impact.

CBCT/OPG Machine

This high-tech X-ray machine consists of two technologies - CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) and OPG (Orthopantomogram). While they both provide different types of X-ray imaging, In some cases, both machines may be used during the same consultation.

Let’s take a look at what both a CBCT and OPG machine can do.

1. CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) Machine:

A CBCT machine is used to capture 3D images of the patient's oral and maxillofacial (jaw and face) structures, including the teeth, jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), sinuses, and surrounding bone.

The machine emits a cone-shaped X-ray beam that rotates around the patient's head. As it rotates, it captures a series of X-ray images from various angles to create a 3D image of the scanned area.

This state-of-the-art machine provides precise information about bone density, volume, and structure, helping dentists to:

  • Plan implant placement.

  • Assess the alignment of teeth and the development of facial structures.

  • Identify issues such as impacted teeth, cysts, tumours, and fractures.

  • Aids in diagnosing and assessing TMJ disorders.

2. OPG (Orthopantomogram) Machine:

An OPG machine is designed specifically for capturing panoramic X-ray images of the entire dental arch, including the upper and lower jaws, teeth, and surrounding structures.

During an OPG scan, the patient stands or sits in front of the machine, and the X-ray tube rotates around the head. The machine captures a single panoramic X-ray image as the X-ray beam sweeps across the entire oral and maxillofacial region.

OPG images provide an overview of the entire mouth, making it useful for general dental examinations. This comprehensive assessment has the following uses:

  • Orthodontists can use the images to evaluate tooth alignment and jaw development.

  • Helps to assess the position and eruption status of wisdom teeth.

  • Surgeons may use OPGs to plan oral and maxillofacial surgeries.

Revolutionising Dentistry

Each machine helps to provide a more accurate, more effective, and more efficient result than ever before, as well as being completely safe.

We have you covered in-house for the latest in Checkup and cleans, X-rays, and 3D imaging and can’t wait to share these new technologies with new and existing patients at Paramount Dental Sydney.
